Villa Zebra is a unique organization that focuses on connecting children to contemporary visual art. The world of the child is our starting point. By letting children discover by themselves and sending them out on an adventure experiencing art, they can grow. With exhibitions for children aged 2 to 12, workshops, educational materials and projects at schools and in the neighbourhood, Villa Zebra annualy reaches over 40.000 children from Rotterdam and beyond.
SPARK THE MOVEMENT
CIRCULAR FRIESLAND / LEEUWARDEN, THE NETHERLANDS
Spark the Movement inspires schools to learn for and to work towards a circular economy and a sustaibable society. In this movement young people, teachers and staff of all schools in all levels, from primary schools to university level, are involved. Recently SPARK is acknowledged by the United Nations as a regional community of expertise on education for sustainable development.
Spark is partner of Circular Friesland, an association with over 100 members from local governments, companies, educational institutes, NGOs and artists. Our aim is to create broad prosperity, by putting up all kinds of projects and initiatives. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN provide us a clear picture of what we strive for.
SIDEVIEWS / BERLIN, GERMANY
Sideviews invents settings, developed from artistic research as a field in which social and political issues, artistic expressions and the participants are connected in a non-hierarchical way. We establish our own methods to create new forms of social interaction within different communities, using interfaces of art, research and education for reinterpretations. The experienced knowledge is published in exhibitions, performances, documentary films.
KABÓCA PUPPET THEATRE / VESZPRÉM, HUNGARY
Kabóca Puppet Theatre is a professional city-funded theatre located in the beautiful city of Veszprém, Hungary. The small company has a huge task: we premiere around five new shows every theatrical season and we play for all age-groups because we believe that puppetry is for everyone! We have twenty company members: actors, technicians, secretaries; and we have our own workhouse!
BØRNS MØDE MED KUNSTEN – BMMK / NORTHERN DENMARK REGION
Børns Møde Med Kunsten (BMMK) is part of a regional strategy, under the cultural agreement between the Ministry of Culture and the 11 municipalities of Northern Jutland – KulturKANTen 2017 – 2021, that aims to bring culture and art to kids, through their institutions. BMMK hold a catalogue of nearly 100 artists, spanning all kinds of æsthetical outputs (music, dance, performance, video, sculpture, street art etc.). The institutions arrange workshops with the artists and BMMK refunds 60 % of the salary the artists receive.
KULTURSKOLAN / ÖRNSKÖLDSVIK, SWEDEN
Kulturskolan is Örnsköldsvik’s municipal cultural school and conducts teaching in the subject areas music, dance, theater, film and visual arts. The cultural school’s overall goal is to offer all children and young people from preschool to high school a cultural context to develop and grow in.
KULTURPRINSEN / VIBORG, DENMARK
Kulturprinsen is a cultural development centre devoted to ensuring children and young adults’ encounter with art and culture in their everyday lives. Kulturprinsen develops projects, professional networks and partnerships with the aim of fostering creativity, innovation and democratic processes primarily through early childhood education and primary education. By promoting cultural and creative learning environments, the scope of Kulturprinsen is to lay the foundations for children and young adults to become responsible democratic citizens and capable of meeting the challenges of an increasingly interconnected and globalised world.
