FROM SOMETHING/NOTHING

To establish a reciprocal equal collaboration with artists, children and teachers with an open inquiring attitude. This makes all participants the owner of the entire artistic process and increases involvement.

You can start small, simply by experiencing and exploring material, for example a mountain of earth. What do you discover? What can you create with it?

Different artist strategies lead to a continuous process. ‘Artworks’ become a meaningful part and invite you to create more.

Bare feet are required to almost ritually explore the mound of earth by walking in circles in the rim. At first shyly but increasingly freer to explore a mountain of earth with all the senses, whether or not talking to each other. How is feeling with your feet different from feeling with your hands? And with your tongue, with your nose?

The artists Yvonne Bronner and Simone van der Meer carefully watch, listen and ask in order to respond to what is happening at that moment. Every child is different, so there are always different interventions with the earth.

Yvonne and Simone are inspired and guided by the children to collect and visualize more and more perspectives, fantasies, stories and images about the earth. In co-creation, research and recording is done with the help of photography, observing, studying, looking, organizing, collecting. Ground becomes visible using the overhead projector on a large sheet of paper. Shapes are depicted in a different color every day. Experiments are carried out in the soil with two different types of cloth. That seems to appeal to the imagination. The many children who dig holes by themselves inspire them to make plaster sculptures.
